Rubber to Metal Bonding Primer 815GB Replacement of Chemlok 205
Description
Rubber to Metal Bonding Primer 815GB Replacement of Chemlok 205 is designed for use under cover coat adhesives to bond a wide variety of vulcanized and unvulcanized rubber compounds to metals and other rigid substrates. It is composed of a mixture of polymers, organic compounds and mineral fillers dissolved or dispersed in an organic solvent system.
Applicable Range
Used as a primer adhesive and combined with a cover coat adhesive, it can firmly bond elastomers to various types of substrates. Suitable for the following substrates:
Metals: carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, zinc, titanium, magnesium, lead, and various alloys.
Non-metals: nylon, fiberglass, polytetrafluoroethylene, rubber, plastic, fabric fibers, glass, ceramics, etc.
Can be used as a one-coat adhesive to bond some nitrile rubber compounds to rigid substrates during vulcanization.

Applying Rubber to Metal Bonding Primer 815GB Replacement of Chemlok 205
Stirring
Since sediment can settle at the bottom of the container during storage, you must thoroughly stir the 815GB adhesive before use to ensure a uniform mixture. For longer jobs, stir the mixture at high speed for 5-10 minutes every 2 hours.
Diluting
You can dilute this product with a diluent as needed. It's recommended to only dilute the amount you plan to use, as diluted products should not be stored for long periods.
Coating
The 815GB adhesive can be applied using a brush, roller, dipping, or spraying. For all methods, apply a uniform layer to prevent excessive overflow.
Brush/Roller: No dilution is required for these methods.
Dipping: Use 20-50 parts of MIBK diluent for every 100 parts of 815GB adhesive.
Spraying: Use 30-100 parts of MIBK diluent for every 100 parts of 815GB adhesive.
Film Thickness
For a single coating, a dry film thickness (DFT) of 5-15 µm is recommended. A thickness of 10-15 µm is best for harsh environments.
Drying at room temperature takes about 30-60 minutes. You can use forced drying to shorten this time.
Cleaning
Before heating for vulcanization, use a cloth dipped in xylene solvent to remove any excess treatment agent that has spilled. Once the adhesive is cured, it cannot be removed with a solvent.
For the best bonding results, vulcanize the rubber and the adhesive simultaneously. When placing the coated item in a molding mold, quickly fill it with rubber for vulcanization. The actual curing conditions depend on the specific rubber's curing requirements.
Shelf life/Storage
Shelf life is 12 months from date of shipment when stored at < 37℃ in original, unopened container. Do not store or use near heat, sparks or open flame.
Precautions
This product is volatile, please close the container after use.
Solvent steam is harmful, pay attention to fire prevention in the workplace, pay attention to low ventilation, prevent long-term inhalation or long-term skin contact.
Please refer to SDS for more safety information.
